Founded over two decades ago, the data and participant database of Rivière-des-Prairies Mental Health Hospital (HSMRDP in French) was first established in order to collect clinical assessment data from patients seen at RDP Hospital’s internal autism clinic. Now a part of our local Integrated Health and Social Services University Center (CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Ile de Montreal), the hospital’s database continues to make autism research projects possible. The database contains existing data which can in and of themselves be used for research, and lists of potential research participants who can be contacted to take part in research studies. Different project have used this database, for studies in perception, cognition, neuroanatomy and brain functioning, sleep, genetic and intelligence in autism.
To date, the database contains sociodemographic, diagnostic, and psychometric data on more than 980 participants with autism, 330 participants with typical development, and 78 participants with developmental delay, aged 3 to 78 years. Amongst them, over 685 participants with autism, 200 participants with typical development, and 76 participants with developmental delay have accepted to receive invitations to participate in autism research projects on autism.
